3.30pm to 4.45pm £6.60
3.30pm to 6pm £10
All children will be escorted to the After School Club by their classroom staff, and will be given a light snack to eat (this will not be a full dinner).
Little Gems have had a fun packed term 6! There’s been lots of excitement with the World Cup. Everyone eagerly awaiting to see which team would get through to the next round. There was a little disappointment when England were beaten by Croatia, but great pride with getting to the semi-finals. Children picked a team to follow and all results were written up on the results chart. All the Little Gems received a medal. The winners receiving an additional treat.
To end our World Cup adventures, we were lucky enough to have Mrs Kresswell come and talk all things Germany. This included trying different German food such as; Edam cheese, German sausage, gherkins and rye bread. The children were especially eager to try on the variety of authentic German clothes. DANKE FRAU KRESSWELL.
The end of term 6 means saying goodbye and good luck to the Year 6 children who are moving onto secondary school. We would like to say a special THANK YOU to our Year 6 Little Gems for their help and kindness to other children. Good luck to Jasper (our book-worm), football mad Luke, arty Iman, helpful Abi and Chuckle Brother Tyler who constantly makes us smile.
Little Gems will be back in August at the start of Term 1 for another fun-packed year of activities and excitement. We hope to see a lot of new faces. Please remember to book and pay for your child’s place via parent pay.
Term 5 has been another busy term for the children at Little Gems.
We have been making the most of the fine weather by playing outside on the field. Mr Kemp has been organising sports activities that the children have enjoy immensely.
We celebrated St George’s Day with lots of colouring in of dragons and knights to make a colourful display. In England we celebrate St George’s Day on the 23rd April, in honour of St George the patron saint of England. A story dating back to the 6th century tells that St George rescued a maiden by slaying a fearsome fire-breathing dragon.
All the children have been extremely busy, many as wedding planners, preparing for the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan. Our room is an explosion of hand-made red, white and blue bunting. The children have come up with some amazing designs for the wedding cake, Meghan’s dress and balloons. Invites have been created and sent out, including one to our head teacher, Mrs Pettett. The happy couple have even found time in their very busy schedule to visit us at Little Gems!
On the eve of the big day the children celebrated and enjoyed a tea party with delicious scones, cream and jam.
If your child would like to enjoy the fun at Little Gems - please book and pay online via parent pay.
Welcome back to Little Gems!
After a busy Term 4 of creating and setting up our new rooms. We are now happily settled and have continued to decorate the rooms with some fantastic artwork and displays. Below you can see our beautiful reading tree which includes fairy lights and a cheeky monkey or two!
During our first week back we have been busy celebrating the Chinese New Year. Did you know it is the Year of the Dog? The children at Little Gems have been finding out their own Chinese zodiac sign and what it means. Which Chinese zodiac sign are you? Gerard (Yr5) discovered he was born in the Year of the rat which means he is cautious, positive and sometimes stubborn. We tasted prawn crackers with a range of Chinese sauces. Harvey liked sweet chilli sauce the best. He said it was really yummy.
We have enjoyed even more fun activities including creating an amazing St Patricks Day display, making Easter crafts and making delicious chocolate Easter treats.
Little Gems After School Club is growing from strength to strength. Please book and pay for child’s place on-line.
Term 3 has been extremely busy and exciting for all Little Gems!
Little Gems After School Club now has its new location in the Mobile. The children have been very excited and enthusiastic about making the room their own and have produced some amazing art work to decorate the once empty walls. They have even woven their own tartan as part of celebrating Burns Night.
The Mobile room has a Fruit Shack, an area set aside to look like a beach hut! Here, children can sit down and have a chat with their friends, whilst eating a variety of fresh fruit. The children have drawn their favourite fruits. These have been cut out, laminated and hung from the ceiling to form a ‘fruit’ curtain.
In addition to the new location, Little Gems after School Club has a new snack room that is very bright and cheery. Here the children are served a welcome, healthy snack. Please click on the link above to see a sample menu.
Towards the end of Term 3 we sadly said goodbye to Mrs Hurley, a valued member of the Little Gems team. Her friendly smile, caring attitude and artistic talents are already being missed. Everyone at Little Gems says a big “THANK YOU” to Mrs Hurley.
We welcomed Mrs Battrum and the return of Mrs Peters to the Little Gems team.
Everyone at Little Gems After School Club is looking forward to Term 4 and learning about the Chinese New Year, St Patricks Day and Easter.
Mrs Gough thanks all members of Little Gems staff for their continued support and hard work.
As Term 2 comes to an end, the excitement of Christmas begins. The tree is up and decorations have been made. Everyone is feeling happy.
Friendships between the different age groups are developing nicely. Children are enjoying helping others, including the adults. Some ‘Little Gems’ having shown a particular liking for washing up!
Term 2 has been very busy. We have designed pumpkins, created firework art and honoured those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom on Remembrance Day by finding out why we have poppies.
In the New Year, Little Gems will be moving to a brand new location – more details to follow. The children have been busy making decorations and displays for our new room.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
New Term, New Friends
Little Gems is back in full swing after a lovely summer break.
We have welcomed new children in Term 1 to Little Gems and lots of new friendships have been formed across the year groups.
The older ones especially have been very caring and welcoming to the new reception children and all new Little Gems children enjoy attending and joining the activities.
We have also been lucky to be joined by Mr Cannon and Mr Kemp who take children to play activities such as throwing and catching games, skipping and sports.
