What we do in Little Gems Afterschool Club
In Little Gems ASC we have lots of fun and enjoy working as part of a team. We are all in teams based on gemstone names. Children are encouraged to gain points and get their team the end of term treat. To achieve points, it is all about positive actions and behaviour but also following our ASC promise. All children are escorted to the After School Club by their classroom staff and undertake a range of craft and play activities each day.

The children can win points for their house teams and the winning team each term receives a small prize. This encourages teamwork and helps develop collaborative working and positive relationships across all ages.

We offer a variety of activities which are fun and enjoyable for all ages as well as taking into consideration the childrens' interests.

Here is an overview of some of the many activities that are on offer:

● Drawing

● Painting

● Free Craft

● Topical/Seasonal craft

● Board games

● Top trumps

● Puzzles

● Word searches

● Listening to music

● Biscuit decorating

● Playing outside - weather permitting

● Team games

● Reading area

● Table top football

● Pool Table

● Laptops (once a week at least)

On Friday’s we create a table for the children to complete homework they have been given that day, so they do not have to do it at home. Adults are there to help and support and laptops can be provided if needed to complete the work.

We also plan sessions with a specific focus or theme to build the children’s knowledge of the world around them. One example is that the children have learnt about foods from around the world and enjoyed tasting them. If you wish to see what we have planned for the term please speak to a member of Little Gems.

The children like using their imagination and come up with some amazing ideas in the arts and crafts area; if you have any recycling items that you would like to donate please drop these off at Little Gems.
