We believe that year 3 is a pivotal year as it marks a significant transition for our young learners. As our children begin to solidify their foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics, they continue to lay the groundwork for future academic success. They also start to develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, which will be essential for their education and personal growth.
Here are some of the exciting topics that we cover during the Year.

Through the Ages is a history unit that explores British prehistory from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. It covers key periods, encourages critical thinking, and integrates other subjects. Students engage in hands-on activities to learn about the past and develop historical literacy.
Rocks, Relics, and Rumbles is a unit that explores Earth science. It covers the Earth's structure, rocks, minerals, and geological processes. Students engage in hands-on activities and develop a link between Science and Geography.
Emperors and Empires is a unit that explores ancient Rome. It covers the Roman Republic, emperors, culture, conquests, and administration. Students engage in hands-on activities to learn about Roman history.
Throughout the year, we will provide opportunities for all of the children to be immersed in a variety of different learning experiences. We will support our students to engage in practical learning experiences, such as Forest School and Cooking.
Children will also be given experiences such as educational visits. This will include visits within the local area and visiting educational establishments to support their knowledge.
In Year 3, we will encourage our students to foster a love of learning and seek to ask questions to develop their knowledge and understanding further.
