Geography companion project, Term 1 & 2: Investigating our world
Year 5 is a crucial year in a child's educational journey building upon the foundations laid in previous years. Students delve deeper into a wide range of subjects which allows them to prepare for their final year of primary school.
In maths, Year 5 students will continue to solidify their understanding of place value and their multiplication facts. They will then move on to fractions, decimals and percentages while also exploring shape, measurement and statistics later in the year. There will be a focus on the children developing their understanding of complex questions and mathematical thinking
English remains a core focus in Year 5. Students will be encouraged to read a variety of texts to foster a love of reading and improve their comprehension skills. Writing skills will also be refined, with a focus on developing their ability to write a range of different text types to suit different genres.
Beyond the core subjects, Year 5 offers opportunities for students to explore their interests and discover new passions. Through hands-on activities and projects, children can develop their creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving skills. Throughout this academic year, the children will also be able to take part in a variety of enrichment activities which are linked to our curriculum.
Here are some of the exciting topics that we cover during the Year.
